SEVERE WEATHER PREPAREDNESS WEEK CONTINUES WITH HAIL AND WIND SAFETY DAY

This week is Missouri Severe Weather Preparedness Week and today the focus is on Hail and Wind safety.

According to the National Weather Service, severe thunderstorms producing damaging winds and large hail can be a threat to life and property.

Damaging straight line winds are much more common than tornadoes and can be just as deadly.

Those caught outdoors during a severe thunderstorm are particularly vulnerable, with boaters and campers especially needing to be alert to the potential of severe storms. Winds in excess of 60 mph can easily capsize boats and put campers at risk due to falling trees.

Tomorrow we will wrap up Missouri Severe Weather Preparedness Week with information about Flood safety.
