FALLEN BUTLER COUNTY FIREFIGHTER TO BE LAID TO REST TODAY

The funeral of a fallen Butler County Firefighter will be held today.

The visitation for Butler County Fire Protection District Shift Commander Jackson Warren has been scheduled for 9:30 am this morning at First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, with funeral services following at noon.

Warren was killed in a single vehicle accident last week while responding to a call for service.

The community has been showing its support for Warren and his family over the past week with multiple memorials being held.

The City of Poplar Bluff flag has been lowered to half staff through sunset this evening in honor of Warren.

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has also ordered that U.S. and Missouri flags be flown at half-staff at government buildings in Butler County, the Fire Fighters Memorial of Missouri in Kingdom City, and firehouses statewide today from sunrise to sunset.

DEXTER MAN TO SPEND ALMOST THREE DECADES IN PRISON AFTER CONVICTION ON MULTIPLE CHARGES

A Dexter man will be spending almost three decades in prison after his conviction on multiple charges Tuesday.

According to Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Sawyer Smith, Boyd Lippoldt was convicted of four felony offenses including DWI causing death of another, armed criminal action, possession of controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence.

The charges stem from a 2021 fatal incident in Stoddard County.

Lippoldt was sentenced to 15 years on the DWI charge, seven years consecutive on each of the armed criminal action and controlled substance charges, and four years concurrent on the tampering charge.

ROUTE 51 IN BUTLER COUNTY TO BE CLOSED TODAY NEAR QULIN

Route 51 in Butler County will be closed today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can replace a culvert under the roadway.

The section of Route 51 being closed is located from County Road 212 to County Road 214 near Qulin.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO THEFT INVESTIGATION

A Poplar Bluff woman has been arrested following an investigation into alleged stealing at a Corning business.

According to Clay County Sheriff Ronnie Cole, in February the Sheriff’s Department received a call from a local business owner requesting assistance involving an employee that had reportedly been stealing money.

The investigation led to the arrest of 28 year old Katlyn Grimaldo, of Poplar Bluff, on a charge of theft greater than $25,000. Her bond was set at $75,000.

HARDWOODS EIGHT MILE TRAIL RUN RESCHEDULED FOR MARCH 14TH

The Poplar Bluff Trails Coalition is gearing up for a run this weekend.

The Hardwoods eight mile trail run is scheduled for 9 am on Saturday, March 14th.

The run will be along the Victory Horse Trail in Mark Twain National Forest.

The event had previously been scheduled for March 7th but was postponed. According to officials, anyone who signed up for the original date but can’t make it this weekend will be given a full refund.

BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

Route BB in Dunklin County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.

The section of roadway being reduced is located from Route B to the Arkansas state line.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through 3 p.m.
