20TH ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF SET FOR SATURDAY

The Mason-Dixon Chili Society’s 20th annual Chili Cook-Off is coming this weekend.

The event will be held from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday at the Black River Coliseum.

Proceeds from the Cook-Off go to benefit the United Gospel Rescue Mission.

SUBJECT FLOWN TO ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL FOLLOWING CRASH IN POPLAR BLUFF

At least one person was injured in a crash Wednesday night in Poplar Bluff.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, the crash involved multiple vehicles at the intersection of Business Highway 67 and Sunset Drive.

Few details have been released but officials say that a passenger in one of the vehicles was flown to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.

DEADLINE COMING TO REMOVE ITEMS BEFORE ANNUAL POPLAR BLUFF CITY CEMETERY CLEAN UP

Poplar Bluff residents are running out of time to remove objects they want to keep before the annual city cemetery clean up.

The Poplar Bluff Cemetery Department will be cleaning both the City and Woodlawn Cemetery’s beginning on March 2nd, with the project anticipated to be completed by March 30th.

Everyone is asked to remove any flower arrangements, personal items, and decorations that you would like to keep before March 2nd.

ONE FLOWN FROM SCENE OF SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH NEAR BLOOMFIELD

One person was flown from the scene of a single vehicle crash Thursday morning near Bloomfield.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 57 year old Sikeston man was driving on Stoddard County Road 524 when his vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

The crash occurred at around 10:40 am.

The driver suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to a St. Louis hospital.

MINGO JOB CORPS TO HOST COMMUNITY MEETING NEXT WEEK

Anyone wanting to learn more about the Mingo Job Corps will have the opportunity to attend an event next week.

The Mingo Job Corps quarterly Community Relations Council meeting will be held at noon on Thursday, March 5th at the Mingo Job Corps Center outside of Puxico.

This will be an opportunity to visit the center, speak with staff, and hear about recent activities. For more information, call 573-222-3537.

MARCH 1ST IS DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM AT THREE RIVERS

The deadline is approaching for anyone who wants to apply for the surgical technology program at Three Rivers College.

Officials say that the application deadline is March 1st for the program, which is designed to prepare students to become an entry-level Surgical Technologist.

Both general education and surgical technology courses are included and clinical laboratory experiences are planned in local healthcare facilities under the direct guidance of the Surgical Technology faculty

Applicants for the Surgical Technology program must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and a TEAS entrance exam score of 50% or higher.

Additionally prospective students must also complete a free Three Rivers application and submit official copies of transcripts from high school and other colleges to the Registrar’s office by the March 1 deadline.
