AG CONNECT 2026 IN POPLAR BLUFF POSTPONED
An annual agriculture focused event in Poplar Bluff has been postponed.
According to a post on the SEMO Ag Connect Facebook page, due to ongoing construction at the Bess Activity Center following last year’s tornado and remodeling, they have made the decision to postpone Ag Connect 2026.
A new date for the event was not announced but the post does say that organizers look forward to bringing Ag Connect back once construction is complete next winter.
POPLAR BLUFF WAS WARMER THAN AVERAGE IN 2025
It was a warmer and drier year than normal last year in Poplar Bluff.
According to the Annual Climate Summary released by the National Weather Service in Paducah, Poplar Bluff’s average temperature for 2025 was 59.9 degrees. That is 1.3 degrees higher than normal for Poplar Bluff.
The city also received less precipitation than usual, with 48.59 inches of precipitation recorded, which is 2.17 inches below the normal amount.
BUTLER COUNTY AWARDED OVER A MILLION DOLLARS IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANTS
Butler County has been chosen to receive over one million dollars in funding to go towards community facility projects.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development announced Monday that it has awarded a total of more than $16.7 million to 43 projects through the Community Development Block Grant Program.
Butler County was approved for two grants. The Broseley Senior Citizens Incorporated Expansion Project will receive nearly 622 thousand dollars, while the County will also receive over 591 thousand dollars for improvements at the Ozark Foothills Recycling Center.
The city of Puxico will get over 616 thousand dollars for street and drainage improvements.
Doniphan was awarded over 87 thousand dollars for residential demolition. Kennett will also receive almost 50 thousand dollars for residential and commercial demolition projects.
MAN ARRESTED IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS ON A RAPE CHARGE
A man is in custody in Northeast Arkansas on a rape charge.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, 22 year old Sebastian Haggard was booked into the Greene County Jail Sunday night on a charge of rape.
His bond was set at $1,000,000.
BERNIE MAN ARRESTED ON ASSAULT CHARGES FOLLOWING CHASE
A Bernie man was taken into custody over the weekend following a police chase in Stoddard County.
According to a Probable Cause Affidavit, shortly before midnight Saturday night, officers were dispatched to an attempted burglary in progress.
While en route, officers were notified that the suspect, later identified as 26 year old Jordan Morgan, had left the residence and was traveling westbound toward Dexter.
A deputy located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. Multiple Dexter Police Officers and Missouri State Highway Patrol units assisted in the pursuit.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Highway 25 and the suspect was pulled from the vehicle. The suspect did not comply with orders and lunged at an officer. He continued to resist until officers deployed their tazers.
During the altercation, multiple deputies suffered injuries to their legs.
According to Missouri Case Net, Morgan has been charged with two felony counts of 3rd degree assault - special victim.
He was held in the Stoddard County Jail.
CULVERT REPLACEMENT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY NEAR NEELYVILLE
Route HH in Butler County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.
The work zone is located between Route H and Route 142 near Neelyville.
Weather permitting, work will take place today through 3 p.m.
