RIVER RADIO BLOOD DRIVE SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK

Reservations are now being accepted for the next River Radio Blood Drive in Poplar Bluff.

The Blood Drive has been scheduled for noon to 5 pm on Friday at Larry Hillis Dodge on North Westwood Boulevard.

Anyone wanting to donate can call 1-800 Red Cross or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter the code RiverRadio to schedule an appointment.

DEXTER GRILLE IT UP SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

Multiple attractions are scheduled for the 9th Annual Dexter Grille It Up this weekend

The event will begin at 8 am on Saturday at East Park in Dexter.

There will be a car show, mud volleyball tournament, cornhole tournament, and cook off contest, along with numerous vendors and live music, among other attractions.

POPLAR BLUFF PARKS AND RECREATION TO HOST BACK TO SCHOOL BASH IN AUGUST

The Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation Department has started planning for their end of summer event.

The 2025 Back to School Bash has been scheduled for 9 am to noon on Saturday, August 2nd at Whiteley Park in Poplar Bluff.

There will be a foam party, yard games, a water slide, and fun for the entire family. Registration is open for local organizations who want to give away school supplies at the event.

ROYAL REGISTRATION DATE SET FOR TWIN RIVERS SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Twin Rivers School District has announced that it will be holding a two day registration event for students next month.

Royal Registration is scheduled for noon to 6 pm on Tuesday, August 5th for students whose parent or guardian’s last name begins with A-K and Thursday, August 7th for students whose parent or guardian’s last name begins with L-Z. Both will be held at Twin Rivers High School in Broseley.

There will be booths set up to distribute student class schedules and allow students to have their school picture taken.

CHILD INJURED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY A JET BOAT ON CURRENT RIVER

A child suffered minor injuries after being struck by a jet boat on Current River.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the jet boat drifted over a 10 year old swimmer in the Deer Run area of Carter County at around 3:30 pm on Friday.

The child received minor injuries in the incident and was examined by emergency personnel at the scene.

BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY NEAR CATRON

Route D in New Madrid County will be closed for most of the rest of the year as contractor crews replace the bridge over Drainage Ditch Number 1. 

The bridge is located between Route JJ and Route W near Catron.

Work is beginning today with completion anticipated by Monday, December 1, weather permitting. This road will remain closed until the work is completed and a signed detour will be in place.
