NEW MADRID COUNTY DEATH INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MAN’S ARREST ON MURDER CHARGE

Updating a story we have been following for you this week, a New Madrid County death investigation has led to the arrest of a Portageville man on a 1st degree murder charge.

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office, early Sunday morning, officers with the Portageville Police Department responded to the intersection of 5th Street and Warren Avenue for a subject lying in the roadway.

When the first officer arrived on scene he found an unresponsive male with multiple gunshot wounds, later identified as David Chamberlain, of Portageville. Chamberlain was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation led to the arrest of 18 year old Trey Sutton, of Portageville, on charges of murder 1st degree and armed criminal action.

Five additional people have been arrested and are facing charges of tampering with physical evidence and possession of a controlled substance in connection to the investigation.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI MAN TO BE EXECUTED THIS FALL FOR 2005 DEATH OF MSHP TROOPER

A southeast Missouri man is set to be executed this fall for the murder of a Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper.

Lance Shockley, of West Plains, was convicted in 2009 for the March 2005 shooting death of Sergeant Carl Graham Jr., who was investigating a fatal crash that involved Shockley.

On June 18th, the Missouri Supreme Court issued a warrant of execution for Shockley, ordering him to be executed within a 24 hour period beginning at 6 pm on October 14th.

THE GARFIELD MOVIE TO BE SHOWN AT MOVIE IN THE PARK

The Spillway Recreation area at Wappapello Lake will be converted to a movie theater this weekend.

Movie in the Park will begin at dusk on Friday, June 27th at the Spillway Recreation Area.

The Garfield Movie will be shown, free of charge, and there will also be one free snack and drink available per person. Attendees should remember to bring a lawn chair or blanket.

The Spillway Recreation area is located off of Highway T right before the dam.

MONTHS LONG INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST OF VAN BUREN MAN ON ASSAULT AND WEAPON CHARGES

A Van Buren man is in custody after a multi month investigation.

According to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, Justin Indiveri has been taken into custody in Oregon.

Indiveri was wanted by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office and Van Buren Police Department on multiple charges including unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, endangering the welfare of a child, and domestic assault 2nd and 4th degree.

Officials in Carter County are thanking the United States Marshal’s Office and Missouri Relentless Pursuit Team for their collaboration in the case.

SNAKE CAUSES CITY WIDE POWER OUTAGE IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI TOWN

A snake is shouldering the blame for a power outage this week in a Southeast Missouri town.

According to the Kennett Board of Public Works, there was a city wide power outage Tuesday night.

During an investigation, it was found that a snake had gotten into a breaker at a substation, causing the outage.

Facebook posts from the area say that power was down for around an hour.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN DEXTER

Business Route 60 in Stoddard County will be reduced this morning as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway being reduced is located from Arvin Road to North two Mile Road in Dexter.

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 7 to 10 a.m.
