DAMAGE REPORTED IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND NORTHEAST ARKANSAS FROM SUNDAY NIGHT STORMS
Damage has been reported from the storm system that crossed Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas Sunday night.
According to the Dexter Fire Department and National Weather Service, campers were damaged after being blown between 25 to 50 feet across a dealership parking lot.
A building on Business Highway 60 in Dexter also had part of its roof blown off.
Officials say that no injuries have been reported.
Multiple power lines were also blown down along Highway 69 near Paragould.
FILING TO END TODAY FOR APRIL ELECTIONS
Filing will come to an end today for the upcoming Poplar Bluff City Council elections.
The city will be holding elections on April 7th for three seats on the City Council, one representative from Ward Five and two at-large seats. The elections will be for three year terms.
Today is the final day for candidates to file for the election.

Filing will also come to an end today at 5 pm for multiple positions on the Poplar Bluff R-1 Board of Education. According to school officials, there are three positions available for three year terms that will be voted on during the election on April 7th.
Candidates can file in person with the Secretary of the Board of Education at the School Administration Office today from 11 am to 5 pm.
FOUR NEW STATE TROOPERS WILL REPORT TO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI EARLY NEXT YEAR
Four new State Troopers have been assigned to Southeast Missouri.
Colonel Michael Turner, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, tells KWOC News that a total of 25 troopers graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy on December 19th.
Four of the graduates are coming to Southeast Missouri.
Trooper Grant Miller, of Piedmont, has been assigned to Stoddard County.
Troopers Matthew Schroeder, of Doniphan, and Zachary Thren, of Tell City, Indiana, will be going to Mississippi, New Madrid, and Pemiscot counties.
Trooper Nikolas Smith, of Senath, will cover New Madrid and Pemiscot Counties.
The new troopers will report to duty on Monday, January 5th.
TEN PEOPLE KILLED IN MISSOURI TRAFFIC CRASHES DURING HOLIDAY WEEKEND
Ten people were killed in traffic crashes in Missouri during the Christmas holiday weekend.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, troopers worked 258 traffic crashes, which included 94 injuries and ten fatalities.
This year, troopers also made 93 DWI arrests over the holiday weekend.
Officials say that there were zero boating crashes, boating fatalities, drownings, or boating while intoxicated arrests during the 2025 Christmas holiday counting period.
WORK TO CONTINUE TODAY ON ROUTE W IN BUTLER COUNTY
Route W in Butler County will be closed again today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.
The section of roadway being closed today is located between Route O and Route KK near Poplar Bluff. While work takes place, the road will be open to local traffic only.
The project is scheduled to take place today through 3 p.m.
MODOT CREWS TO BE WORKING TODAY ON ROUTE 61 IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Route 61 in New Madrid County will be closed today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can replace a culvert under the roadway.
According to officials, the work zone is located from Route 62 to Route D near Lilbourn.
Work will take place today through 5 p.m.
