2025 RIVER RADIO LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE SET FOR THIS FRIDAY NIGHT
Parade lights will be shining bright in Downtown Poplar Bluff this Friday for the 2025 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 pm this Friday. Line up will begin at 4:30 at the Sky-High Fun Zone parking lot.
The parade route this year will run from Highway 142 at McDonalds through downtown Poplar Bluff before looping back and ending at the Black River Coliseum.
Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. For more information, call 573-785-0881.
The 3rd Annual Poplar Bluff Community Tree Lighting will be held in front of the Black River Coliseum as the parade kicks off at 6 pm.
WINTER WEATHER POSSIBLE TONIGHT ACROSS SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
An incoming winter weather system will bring chances of snow, sleet, and freezing rain to Southeast Missouri.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect tonight for portions of Southeast Missouri.
Mixed precipitation is expected as a part of this system with some areas seeing snow and sleet accumulations of up to around one inch and ice accumulations around a light glaze possible.
The precipitation could cause issues for the commute Tuesday morning, with roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, possibly becoming slick and hazardous in locations that receive winter weather.
FILING TO BEGIN ON DECEMBER 10TH FOR THREE POSITIONS ON THE POPLAR BLUFF R-1 SCHOOL BOARD
Filing is scheduled to begin next week for multiple positions on the Poplar Bluff R-1 Board of Education.
According to school officials, there are three positions available for three year terms that will be voted on during the election on April 7th, 2026.
Candidates can file in person with the Secretary of the Board of Education beginning at 8 am on December 9th at the School Administration Office.
The deadline to file for the election will be 5 pm on December 30th. The candidate’s names will be placed on the ballot in order of filing.
HIGHWAY PATROL HEADQUARTERS IN POPLAR BLUFF LIT UP IN BLUE TO PAY TRIBUTE TO FALLEN OFFICERS
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E headquarters in Poplar Bluff will be lit up in blue this month to pay tribute to fallen officers and show support for law enforcement.
The Highway Patrol will be participating in Project Blue Light, which will see the general headquarters, division offices, and troop headquarters buildings display blue lights through January 2nd.
Officials say that 31 members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol have given their lives providing service and protection to Missouri’s citizens.
MODOT ANNOUNCES PLANS TO REHABILITATE BRIDGE IN BUTLER COUNTY
The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced plans for an upcoming bridge project in Butler County.
MoDOT plans to rehabilitate the Route MM bridge over Harviell Creek. The bridge is located west of County Road 355.
Officials say that work could begin as early as July 2026. The roadway will be closed in the vicinity of the bridge as construction is underway.
The rehabilitation work will be underway for approximately two months.

CULVERT REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE DELAYS THIS WEEK IN DEXTER
Route 114 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.
The section of roadway being reduced is located from County Road 725 to McCormic Street in Dexter.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m daily through Wednesday.
