AREA RESIDENT ARRESTED ON ALLEGED ARSON CHARGES
An area man was taken into custody for allegedly setting a house on fire.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 30 year old Gabriel Womack, of Poplar Bluff, was allegedly seen on video footage entering his ex-girlfriend’s home, and set a few boxes on fire inside the house while the 30 year old woman and her three children were sleeping.
Womack was arrested following the incident on suspicion of arson first degree, burglary, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
He was transported to the Butler County Jail following his arrest, on no bond.
MAN ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON WEAPON CHARGES
A man was taken into custody in Butler County on drug and weapon charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 20 year old Isaiah Brown, of Broseley, was arrested on a felony charge on unlawful use of a weapon, and felony possession of marijuana.
After his arrest, he was transported to the Butler County Jail.
EARTHQUAKE REPORTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
There was an earthquake that struck New Madrid on Monday.
According to the United States Geological survey, the quake struck early morning on Monday, near Malden and Risco, and measured at a magnitude of 2.5.
The earthquake hit at 1:30 am, and had a depth of about 8 miles.
AREA RESIDENT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON MULTIPLE CHARGES
An area man was arrested on multiple charges in Butler County on Monday.
According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, 31 year old Dustin Taylor, of Poplar Bluff, was taken into custody on two felony Butler County warrants – amphetamine possession and aggravated assault, several Poplar Bluff Police Department failure to appear warrants, and possession of stolen property.
Taylor was transported to the Butler County Jail following his arrest.
REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION ON BUSINESS FIRE IN NEW MADRID
There is a reward being offered for information involving a business fire in New Madrid County.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, a fire was reported at an auto shop on Saturday in Gideon, with the building being destroyed by the flames.
The fire is currently under investigation as arson, and a $5,000 reward is in place for information on the fire and the individual(s) responsible.

ROAD SCHEDULED TO CLOSE IN WAYNE COUNTY FOR BRIDGE REPAIRS
A road in Wayne County is scheduled to close for repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a portion of Route FF between County Roads 378 and 830 will be closed while crews replace a bridge over Big Lake Creek. The work is scheduled to take place on March 9th, and will be completed by May 30th.
