VEHICLE FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES IN BUTLER COUNTY


A vehicle caught fire on a highway in Butler County on Tuesday morning.

The Butler County Fire Department responded to a call of a vehicle fire on US Highway 60 east, about four miles from Poplar Bluff, where the vehicle was found fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighter crews arrived at the scene.

The truck was destroyed by the fire, however no injuries were reported. The cause of the flame is currently under investigation. 


ARREST MADE IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON SEVERAL FELONY CHARGES


An arrest was made in New Madrid County on Tuesday on several felony charges.

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, 58 year old Curtis Burleson, of East Prairie, was booked on a felony warrant out of Mississippi County for burglary, as well as two New Madrid County felony warrants; one for possession of a controlled substance, and one on 4th degree domestic assault.

Following his arrest, he was transported to the New Madrid County Jail, with no bond.


INTERSTATE IN PEMISCOT COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION DURING BRIDGE REPAIRS


An interstate running through Pemiscot County will be reduced while bridge maintenance is underway.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of North and Southbound Interstate 55, from mile marker 18 to mile marker 20 near Hayti, will be reduced to one lane while MODOT crews perform bridge repairs.

The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, and will continue through December 4th.


MULTIPLE BLOOD DRIVES SCHEDULED FOR THIS MONTH IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

 

The American Red Cross has announced several blood drives that will be held this month in Southeast Missouri. 

A blood drive has been scheduled for 2 pm to 6 pm this afternoon at East Carter High School in Ellsinore. 

Additional blood drives will be held on November 20th at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center and at the Poplar Bluff Technical Career Center. After donating, all blood donations will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.

LOCAL MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN BUTLER COUNTY ON METHAMPHETAMINE POSSESSION


A Poplar Bluff man was arrested in Butler County for methamphetamine possession.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, 27 year old Daveon Jay was taken into custody on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

He was transported to the Butler County Jail following his arrest.


DRIVER INJURED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN WAYNE COUNTY


A driver was injured after her vehicle crashed in Wayne County on Tuesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Route V, south of Piedmont, where a vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned while striking a tree.

The driver suffered moderate injuries from the crash, and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment.
