AREA MAN KILLED IN CARTER COUNTY ATV WRECK 

One person has died following an ATV wreck in Carter County.  

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an ATV, driven by 64 year old Michael Morgan, of Kennett, ran off the roadway and overturned on Deer Run, 2 miles west of Van Buren.  

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene by Carter County Coroner Eric McSpadden.

GIDEON MAN FACING METH AND PARAPHERNALIA CHARGES FOLLOWING ARREST 

A Gideon man is facing a felony drug charge following his arrest Tuesday evening.  

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 20 year old Bradley Wallace was taken into custody at around 9:30 pm in Pemiscot County on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.  

Officials say that Wallace is also facing a charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.  

Following the arrest, he was held at the Pemiscot County Jail.

STODDARD COUNTY ROAD CLOSED FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT 

Route DD in Stoddard County has been closed so contractor crews can replace a bridge.   

MoDOT officials tell KWOC News that the bridge is located over Spring Creek between County Road 593 and County Road 372 near Vanduser. 

The bridge is scheduled to re-open on Friday, September 6th.

AUTHORITIES IN CARTER COUNTY ARREST TWO ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES 

Authorities in Carter County have arrested two women on multiple felony charges.  

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 38 year old Mindy Everett, of Ellsinore, and 53 year old Deborah Davis, of Van Buren, were both taken into custody Tuesday night on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine, felony unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana 10 grams or less.  

Following the arrest, both Everett and Davis were taken at the Carter County Jail.

MOTORISTS ASKED TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR PEDESTRIANS 

Motorists in Missouri are being reminded to stay on the lookout for pedestrians.  

The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is holding a campaign this week focusing on pedestrian safety. 

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, in 2018 preliminary data showed that, 97 pedestrians were killed in Missouri and 250 were seriously injured. The top pedestrian contributing factors involved were alcohol or drug impairment and distraction or inattention. 

MoDOT Highway Safety and Traffic Engineer Nicole Hood says that all drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to make safe choices so everyone, no matter the mode of transportation, makes it to their destination safely.

JOSH BURSON MEMORAL GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR NEXT WEEKEND 

The 10th Annual Josh Burson Memorial Golf Tournament is set for June 22nd at the Ozark Ridge Golf Course in Poplar Bluff.  

The 4 man scramble tournament costs $75 per person to enter and will be followed by a dinner catered by Tasteful Creations beginning at 6 pm at Holiday Inn. The dinner will also have an auction and raffles.  

All proceeds will go to the Josh Burson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

CULVERT PIPE REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE CLOSURE OF RIPLEY COUNTY ROAD 

Route E in Ripley County will be closed today so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can replace a culvert pipe under the roadway.  

The work zone will be located 3 miles south of the Route 142 Junction. 

Work is schedule to take place today, weather permitting, from 8 am to 3 pm.
