WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH NOON FOR MOST SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Slick roadways are possible for much of Southeast Missouri this morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for many counties in Southeast Missouri, including Butler, Carter, Ripley, Wayne, Stoddard, and Bollinger Counties through noon today.

Weather officials say that freezing rain is possible this morning with light icing expected across much of Southeast Missouri.

Slick travel conditions could possibly develop, especially on bridges and overpasses. Motorists should slow down and use caution while driving.

PUXICO MAN PRONOUNCED DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

A Puxico man has died after being involved in a single vehicle wreck.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 94 year old Neal Holloway was driving on US Highway 67 in Butler County when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road, crossed both of the oncoming lanes and came to rest in a ditch.

The wreck occurred a quarter of a mile north of Poplar Bluff.

Holloway was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

NO FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED IN POPLAR BLUFF DEATH

Officials say that no foul play is suspected in a death in Poplar Bluff.

According to authorities, a body was discovered yesterday morning near a residence on North 14th Street.

During the investigation, it was found that the deceased, whose identity was not released, lived in the residence near where the body was found.

The Poplar Bluff Police Department and the Butler County Coroner’s office have determined that no foul play was involved in the death.

SCIENTIFIC AIRCRAFT TO BE FLYING OVER SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Don’t be surprised if you see a low flying airplane over the next month.

According to the Poplar Bluff Municipal Airport, a scientific aircraft will be conducting low altitude flights over the region for around the next 30 days.

Officials say the twin engine aircraft will be performing seismic readings as it passes over the ground at an altitude of about 300 feet.

KENNETT RESIDENT ARRESTED ON FELONY CHARGE

A Kennett resident has been taken into custody yesterday in Dunklin County on a felony charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Brianne Cagle was arrested Wednesday evening on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance for Soma.

Cagle also reportedly had two warrants out of Cape Girardeau County for probation violation.

THIRTY THREE ILLEGALLY SHOT GEESE SEIZED IN NEW MADRID AND PEMISCOT COUNTIES

Over thirty illegally shot geese have been seized by conservation agents in New Madrid and Pemiscot Counties.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, agents recently found four separate incidents of snow-goose hunters illegally shooting geese from a public roadway or motor vehicle.

Agents issued citations to ten different hunters and seized 33 illegal geese.

Officials say that hunting from a public roadway or motor vehicle is unsafe, unethical, and prohibited by the Wildlife Code.
