GATEWOOD MAN DIES FROM INJURIES HE RECEIVED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Gatewood man has died from injuries he received in a single vehicle wreck Monday night.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 34 year old Dustin Reeves was driving on Missouri Highway 142 in the Couch area, when his vehicle ran off the side of the road and overturned.
He was reportedly not wearing a safety device and was ejected from the vehicle.
Reeves was transported to a Memphis Hospital where he passed away Tuesday morning.
PUXICO TEENAGER SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THREE VEHICLE WRECK
A Puxico teenager was seriously injured in a wreck involving three vehicles in Stoddard County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at around 9 pm Tuesday night on Highway 51 near Puxico. A vehicle was attempting to make a pass when it struck another vehicle in the rear, crossed the center line of the highway, and struck another vehicle head on.
The driver of the third vehicle, 19 year old Blake Smith, suffered serious injuries and was flown to a St. Louis hospital. No injuries were listed for the drivers of the other two vehicles.
VAN BUREN TO HOST PUBLIC HEARING NEXT WEEK TO DISCUSS GRANT SUBMISSION
The city of Van Buren will be hosting a public hearing next week to discuss the upcoming submission for a community development block grant.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 6 pm on Monday, September 10th at the Van Buren City Hall.
The city is requesting funds for a new public safety building to be located on the same site as the current building, which was heavily impacted by flooding last year.

LARGE AMOUNT OF SYNTHETIC MARIJUANA FOUND DURING TRAFFIC STOP IN KENNETT
Authorities in Kennett say that a Charleston resident is facing a drug charge in connection to a traffic stop early Monday morning.
According to the Kennett Police Department, at around 2:30 am Monday, an officer conducted a traffic stop during which they located a large amount of synthetic marijuana.
23 year old Andrae Rhodes was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.
Officials say that Rhodes was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center.
POPLAR BLUFF CITY OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE THAT ONLY ONE CITY COUNCIL MEETING WILL BE HELD THIS MONTH
Officials in Poplar Bluff have announced that only one city council meeting will be held this month.
According to Poplar Bluff City Hall, the city council meeting is scheduled for 7 pm on Wednesday, September 12th.
The meetings will return to the normal schedule of the first and third Mondays of the month in October.
STODDARD COUNTY BRIDGE TO BE CLOSED THROUGH THE END OF NEXT MONTH
A Stoddard County bridge will be closed through the end of next month.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route N in Stoddard County will be closed so contractor crews can replace the bridge deck located between Route Y and County Road 512.
Weather permitting, the bridge is scheduled to re-open on Thursday, November 1st.
MONTH LONG PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY IN STODDARD AND BOLLINGER COUNTIES
Route C in Stoddard and Bollinger Counties will be reduced with an 11 foot width restriction beginning today as contractor crews overlay the roadway.
Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation tell KWOC News that the section of Route C affected is located from Route 25 to Route 51.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 7 pm daily through Friday, October 5th.
