ARKANSAS MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO BUTLER COUNTY WRECK

An Arkansas man has been taken into custody in Butler County following a wreck that closed an area off ramp.

A wreck caused the closure a Highway 60/67 off ramp in the Poplar Bluff area for a period of time on Tuesday. The ramp has since reopened.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 50 year old Ronald Stewart, of Dumas, Arkansas, was arrested Tuesday evening on a felony charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. He was held at the Butler County Jail.

 

BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR SCHEDULED FOR TODAY AT TWIN RIVERS HIGH SCHOOL

The new school year is rapidly approaching and an event will be held next week to help students in the Twin Rivers School District get prepared.

A back to school fair is scheduled for 1 to 7 pm today at the Twin Rivers High School Gym.

Officials say that the fair, for Twin Rivers students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, will feature free school supplies, haircuts, sports physicals, and more.

Royal Registration is scheduled August 7th from 1 to 7 pm at Twin Rivers High School.

 

POPLAR BLUFF FOOTBALL TEAM TO HOST PUBLIC SCRIMMIAGE

Area residents will get a chance to have their first look at this seasons Poplar Bluff Mules Football team next week.

According to new Head Coach Dave Sievers, the scrimmage will be held August 11th from 9:30 am to 11 am and will be open to the public. 

The Mules Booster Club will be providing lunch for the players following the scrimmage.

The Mules varsity season will kick off on August 24th at home against the Sumner Bulldogs. You can hear every Mules football game this season on Today’s Talk KWOC.

 

ONE KILLED IN SHANNON COUNTY WRECK

One person has died from injuries he received in a motorcycle wreck in Shannon County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred early Tuesday morning on Highway 60 near Birch Tree.

A vehicle reportedly pulled into the path of an oncoming motorcycle, resulting in a collision.

The driver of the motorcycle, 60 year old James Bradford, of Summersville, was ejected from his vehicle and later pronounced dead at the scene.

 

WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT HABITAT WORKSHOP TO BE HELD NEXT WEEK IN DONIPHAN

The Missouri Department of Conservation has scheduled a wildlife management habitat workshop for next week in Doniphan.

The workshop will be hosted by the Department of Conservation, the University of Missouri Extension, and the Quality Deer Management Association from 6 to 8 pm on August 9th at First Baptist Church.

During the workshop landowners will learn how to manage woodlands and grasslands to increase native plant diversity, which will increase the quality of wildlife habitat on the entire property. Landowners will also learn about financial assistance available to those who install wildlife management practices.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR ADULT FALL SOFTBALL LEAGUE IN POPLAR BLUFF

Registration is now open for the adult fall softball league in Poplar Bluff.

Officials with Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation say that there will be a men's league and a coed league if four or more teams register.

Team registration is being accepted through August 10th and officials say that the fees will be determined by the number of teams and the number of games to be played.
