MAN DROWNS WHILE SWIMMING IN WAPPAPELLO LAKE

An area man died over the weekend while swimming in Wappapello Lake.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 59 year old Randall Scott, of Wappapello, became fatigued while swimming on Saturday, went under the water, and never resurfaced.

A search was conducted and Scott’s body was found on Sunday.

 

MAN WANTED FOR CARTER COUNTY HOMICIDE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

Updating a story we brought to you last week, a suspect in a Carter County Homicide has been taken into custody.

Carter County Sheriff Richard Stephens tells KWOC News that 44 year old Jason Roberts, of Ellsinore, was arrested Friday night without incident.

Roberts was wanted in connection to the shooting death of 34 year old Rudy Hernandez, of Ellsinore, who was found dead last week.

Roberts is facing charges of murder 1st degree and armed criminal action and was transported to the Butler County Jail. Stephens says that bond has been set at one million dollars.

 

CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN TODAY ON POPLAR BLUFF INDUSTRIAL PARK OVERPASS PROJECT

Construction is set to begin today on an overpass project in the Poplar Bluff Industrial Park.

According to the Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission, groundbreaking was held Friday for the Industrial Park Railroad Overpass at the intersection of Cravens Road and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.

 

BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED EARLY THIS WEEK FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS

Route F in Butler County will be closed early this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway to be closed is located from Route 160 to County Road 459.

Work will take place today and tomorrow from 7 am to 6 pm each day. The road will be open to local traffic only.

 

MINOR DIES AFTER FALLING OUT OF THE BED OF A TRUCK

A female minor was killed in an incident early Saturday morning in Northeast Arkansas.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the minor was in the bed of a truck in Randolph County when she fell out on Mason Road.

Authorities say the incident occurred at around 1:10 am Saturday.

The minor, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene by Randolph County Coroner Rhonda McCann.

 

DONIPHAN TEENAGER SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

A Doniphan teenager was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a single vehicle wreck.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol 43 year old Ronald Miles, of Birch Tree, was driving on Highway E in Shannon County when his vehicle ran off the side of the roadway and overturned.

An 18 year old passenger in the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

Miles suffered minor injuries and was transported to a West Plains hospital.

 

DEXTER MAN ARRESTED ON CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WARRANT

Officials in Stoddard County say that an area man has been taken into custody on a controlled substance warrant.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 50 year old Jesse Barnes, of Dexter was recently arrested on a warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.

Officials say that Barnes bond was set at $25,000, cash only.

 

WORK SET TO BEGIN TODAY ON REPLACEMENT FOR WAYNE COUNTY BRIDGE

An over four month long bridge project is beginning this morning in Wayne County.

Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation tell KWOC News that as contractor crews replace the U.S. Route 67 Bridge over Cedar Creek, traffic will be shifted to run head-to-head in the southbound lanes with a 10-foot width restriction.

The area is located between Outer Road 67 and Route EE, near Coldwater.

Officials say the project is anticipated to be completed by 6 pm on Monday, December 3rd.
