MAN FACING TWO COUNTS OF CAPITAL MURDER IN CONNECTION TO DEATHS IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, a man is facing charges in connection to the deaths of two people in Northeast Arkansas. 

Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble tells KWOC News that on Saturday, authorities discovered the deceased bodies of 66 year old Ricky and Rita Bozwell. 

25 year old Nicholaus Patterson, of Pocahontas, is facing charges of capital murder in connection to the deaths.  


SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR SUSPECT IN SIKESTON ARMED ROBBERY

Authorities in Sikeston are searching for a suspect following a reported robbery on Monday. 

According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, shortly before 7:30 am Monday, officers responded to a Dollar General located on South Kingshighway in reference to an armed robbery.

A store clerk said the suspect had a handgun and left with an undetermined amount of cash. 

The suspect was described as a white male, medium to heavy build, wearing a blue or purple colored shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. 

Officials say that the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who has information related to the case is asked to contact Sikeston DPS at 573-471-4711 or your local law enforcement agency.


MAN TRANSPORTED TO ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL IN CONNECTION TO INCIDENT INVOLVING A FLARE GUN

A man has been transported to a St. Louis hospital following an incident involving a flare gun. 

According to authorities, the man was shot in the throat with a flare gun Monday morning at a Poplar Bluff residence. 

The man had allegedly kicked in a door to the residence before he was shot. 


MARIJUANA AND ECSTASY FOUND DURING TRAFFIC STOP IN PORTAGEVILLE

Two men have been arrested in New Madrid County after drugs were found during a traffic stop. 

According to Portageville Police Chief Ronnie Adams, officers conducted the stop on a vehicle Saturday night for no headlights. 

Adams says that officers observed a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and conducted a search. During the search, they found approximately 900 grams of marijuana and 48 pills that field tested positive for ecstasy. 

Two male subjects were arrested and incarcerated pending the filing of formal charges through the New Madrid County Prosecutor’s Office for delivery of a controlled substance. 


MULTIPLE SCHOOL READINESS EVENTS TO BE HELD IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

The South Central Missouri Community Action Agency is planning several school readiness events to be held over the next month in Southeast Missouri. 

The events will feature many different organizations in the community with services for low income families. Children registered for the event can receive free age appropriate school supplies, including backpacks, paper, folders, and pencils. Health Screenings will also be completed for the children. 

Events are scheduled to be held in Butler, Carter, Dent, Reynolds, Ripley, Shannon, and Wayne Counties.

MULTIPLE PEOPLE ARRESTED FOLLOWING INCIDENT IN SIKESTON

Multiple people have been taken into custody following an incident over the weekend in Sikeston. 

Sergeant Jon Broom with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety tells KWOC News that Sikeston DPS officers, the
Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Street Crimes Task Force responded to a disturbance early Sunday morning. 

Officers made entry to a building and observed a juvenile in possession of marijuana. The officers attempted to take the juvenile into custody at which time he resisted and refused officers commands. Officers were eventually able to take the juvenile into custody and recovered the suspected marijuana as evidence. 

An additional search of his person yielded a white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine. 

Officers remained at the location and made additional arrests for charges varying from assault on police, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and possession of marijuana.

Broom says officers and detectives will continue to review camera footage from the evening and more arrests are possible.

Bond: $2000 cash only

(2) Porscha A. Smith, age 28 of Sikeston
Charges: Assault on a police officer
Disorderly conduct
Resisting arrest
Bond: $1500 cash

(3) Willondia S. Washington, age 22 of Sikeston
Charges: Assault on a police officer
Disorderly conduct
Resisting arrest
Bond: $1500 cash

(4) Perry D. Ellis, age 30 Sikeston
Charges: Disorderly conduct
Bond: $500 cash
