APPARENT GAS LEAK UNCOVERED IN POPLAR BLUFF  

An apparent gas leak was discovered Monday in Poplar Bluff.

According to authorities, crews smelled natural gas while conducting regular maintenance on a natural gas main.

The leak was contained and there were no injuries reported. One house was evacuated after the leak was discovered.

 

QULIN MAN FACING METH CHARGE FOLLOWING WEEKEND ARREST

 

Authorities in Butler County have arrested a Qulin man on a felony drug charge.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 53 year old Michael McTyre was taken into custody Sunday on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McTyre also reportedly had a warrant out of Butler County. He was taken to the Butler County Jail on a 24 hour hold.

 

BUTLER COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY HOSTING EVENT TONIGHT TO DISCUSS BALLOT PROPOSITIONS

 

The Butler County Republican Party will be hosting an event tonight in Poplar Bluff to discuss propositions that will be on the ballot in two weeks.

The event will begin at 6:30 pm tonight at the Butler County Courthouse. Officials say that guest speaker Carl Bearden from United for Missouri will be there to explain the ballot propositions and answer any questions attendees may have.

The event will be open to the public.

 

MAN ACCUSED OF EXPOSING HIMSELF TO WOMAN AT A POPLAR BLUFF PARKING LOT

 

A man has been accused of exposing himself to a woman in a Poplar Bluff parking lot.

Detective Joey Woodruff, with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, tells us more about the alleged incident.

JOEY WOODRUFF: 

On Saturday morning, officers with the Poplar Bluff Police Department were contacted by a female victim who reported a man had exposed himself to her in the parking lot of Dunham's Sports. The victim provided a description of the man and the vehicle he was driving along with the partial license plate. During an area search I located the van, which matched the description, in the parking lot of Walmart. The driver identified as Thomas Lee Victory, 29 of Poplar Bluff, matched the description of the suspect. Victory was still pulling up his pants as I contacted him. The victim was escorted to Walmart and Victory was positively identified as the man who had exposed himself. Victory was arrested and later lodged at the Butler County Justice Center on a charge of second-degree sexual misconduct.

 

PRE-SALE FOR MULES PLAYOFF TICKETS BEGIN THIS MORNING

 

The Pre-Sell for Poplar Bluff Mules playoff tickets is scheduled to begin this morning.

The Mules will be taking on the Vianney Golden Griffins this Friday night at the Mules Stadium for the Class 5, District 1 Semifinal.

Poplar Bluff Athletic Director Kent Keith tells KWOC News that they are expecting a large crowd Friday night, so they will begin pre-selling tickets in the High School Athletic Department at 10 am this morning.

Tickets will be available daily from 10 am to 3 pm until noon on Friday. Tickets will also be available at Mules Stadium when the gates open at 5:30pm on Friday. All tickets are $7 each.

 

SIKESTON MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE

 

A Sikeston man has been taken into custody on a child pornography charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 41 year old Robert Larson was arrested Monday afternoon on three counts of possession of child pornography.

Following the arrest, Larson was held at the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

 

POPLAR BLUFF CHURCH HOSTING FALL FESTIVAL THIS WEEK

 

New Life Christian Church United in Poplar Bluff has announced they will be holding a fall festival later this week.

The event is scheduled for 5 to 9 pm on Friday, October 28th. Officials say the event will be safe fun for all ages and is free to the public.

There will be old fashioned games, a costume parade, Halloween Candy and live music.

New Life Christian Church United is located at 2755 Barron Road in Poplar Bluff.
