AUTHORITIES ARREST WILLIAMSVILLE MAN ON MULTIPLE WARRANTS
A Williamsville man was taken into custody Wednesday morning on multiple warrants.
Officials with the Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 38 year old Michael Morey was arrested in Wayne County on a warrant from the Carter County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on larceny as well as a warrant from the Poplar Bluff Police Department for failure to appear on shoplifting.
Morey is also facing charges of resisting arrest by fleeing and driving while suspended.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN FACING FELONY METHAMETHAPINE CHARGE
Authorities in Butler County have arrested a Poplar Bluff man on a felony drug charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Frederick Meyer was taken into custody Wednesday morning on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
Meyer also reportedly had a warrant from the Poplar Bluff Police Department. Following the arrest, Meyer was taken to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office on a 12 hour hold.
REPAIRS COMPLETED ON BUTLER COUNTY LEVEE THAT WAS BREACHED DURING THE AUGUST FLOODING
Repairs have been completed on a levee that was breached during the flooding we experienced last month in Butler County.
The breach in the Black River levee was located near County Road 607 and resulted in the flooding of parts of Highway 53 in August.

SHOTS FIRED TUESDAY IN POPLAR BLUFF
Authorities in Poplar Bluff are investigating an incident where multiple shots were fired on Tuesday.
The incident reportedly occurred on the 800 block of Poplar Street Tuesday afternoon. Multiple shell casings were found at the scene but there have been no injuries reported.
Two men had allegedly pulled guns and one of them fired at the vehicle the other was in. Police are searching for a suspect in the case.
INDIANA LANDSCAPING COMPANY CITED IN DEATH OF CREWMAN NEAR POPLAR BLUFF
An Indiana Landscaping Company has been cited by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration in connection to the death of a ground crewman near Poplar Bluff in July.
23 year old Tyler Halsey died after being hospitalized with a core body temperature above 108 degrees. OSHA investigators determined the employee collapsed after working more than nine hours in the direct sun when the heat index reached 110 degrees.
OSHA has issued his employer Townsend Tree Service Company LLC of Muncie, Indiana, one serious citation and proposed penalties of $12,471.
SIKESTON MAN FACING FELONY DRUG CHARGE
A Sikeston man is facing a felony drug charge following his arrest earlier this week.
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter tells KWOC News that on Tuesday, deputies received a call of careless and imprudent driver on State Highway HH.
The suspect vehicle was later located at an area business. Deputies arrived and identified the driver as 28 year old Caleb Smith. He was placed under arrest due to the traffic offenses.
Deputies later located a white crystal substance, weighing 3.61 grams, and a glass smoking pipe with white residue in Smith’s vehicle.
The white crystal substance and smoking pipe field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Smith was transported to the Scott County Jail and has been charged with the possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia along with the traffic offenses.
THURSDAY AT THE BUTLER COUNTY FAIR
The Butler County Fair is moving from the Black River Coliseum to Ray Clinton Park today.
Multiple events are scheduled for tonight at the fair, including the fried pie eating contest, gospel entertainment, the petting zoo, and the coyote hunter monster truck ride.
Tonight will also mark the opening of the carnival and the Butler County’s Got Talent show.
