ONE IN CUSTODY, TWO OTHERS SOUGHT, IN CONNECTION TO BUTLER COUNTY BURGLARY  

Butler County authorities say one person is in custody in connection to a recent burglary.

Investigator Wess Popp with the Butler County Sheriff's Department tells us more,

Popp says 61 year old David Ashcraft, of Qulin was taken into custody on a charge of receiving stolen property and two other persons of interest are being sought in connection to the case.

 

MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT IN CONNECTION TO JUNE WRECK

 

A Tennessee man has been charged in connection to a wreck that occurred in June.

34 year old Jeremy Sykes, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, is charged with two felony counts of second degree assault.

The man was involved in a wreck on June 5th where he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the path of another vehicle.

Sykes, 50 year old Lori Garner, of Poplar Bluff and 46 year old Becky Farrow, of Dyersburg, were all seriously injured in the wreck.

 

SIKESTON WOMAN KILLED IN ROLLOVER WRECK

 

A Sikeston woman is dead following a rollover wreck Wednesday morning.

Sergeant Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that 29 year old Bethany Venable’s vehicle ran off of Interstate 55 and overturned at around 9:30 am Wednesday.

Venable was reportedly not wearing a safety device and was ejected from the vehicle. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

 

MAN SENTENCED FOR FIRING SHOTS INTO TRUCK

 

A Bunker man is facing over a decade in prison in connection to a 2013 incident.

According to Missouri Case Net, James Dorris was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections on a weapons charge and 3 years on a charge of armed criminal action. The two sentences are to run concurrently.

The charges stem from an April 2013 incident where Dorris fired two bullets into a vehicle.

 

DUDLEY WOMAN ARRESTED IN POPLAR BLUFF ON DRUG CHARGE

 

Poplar Bluff police arrested a Dudley woman last week on drug charges.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department on October 2nd, an officer found 37 year old Sue Ann Scott to be in possession of a plastic bag with a misdemeanor amount of marijuana, a homemade smoking pipe with burnt residue, and a pink round tablet which was identified as Adderall.

Scott was taken into custody on charges of possession of drugs – amphetamine, possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

PUXICO WOMAN FACING DRUG CHARGE

 

A Puxico woman is facing a drug charge in connection to her arrest Wednesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 35 year old Tina Daniel was arrested in Butler County on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – hydrocodone.

Daniel is also facing charges of careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident and driving while intoxicated – prior offender.

 

EARTHQUAKE REPORTED NEAR LILBOURN

 

Officials with the United States Geological Survey say an earthquake was recorded Wednesday afternoon in Southeast Missouri.

The 2.1 Magnitude quake was located 4 miles southwest of Lilbourn and 30 miles northeast of Kennett.

The earthquake had a depth of over 4 miles.
