THREE INJURED OVER THE WEEKEND IN SHOOTING IN MALDEN  

Three people have been shot in Malden after an altercation on Sunday.

Malden Police Chief Jarrett Bullock tells KWOC News two people were allegedly hospitalized with their injuries and are reportedly in critical condition.  A young boy was apparently grazed with a bullet, but has since been released.

Bullock says there appeared to be a dispute over what appeared to be illegal gambling. No suspects are in custody, but they say they have identified two persons of interest in the investigation.

 

DONIPHAN WOMAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF HYDROCODONE

 

A Doniphan woman was arrested last week on a drug charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 34 year old Candace Scott was arrested Thursday afternoon in Butler County.

Scott is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance - hydrocodone and failure to display valid plates.

 

PUBLIC MEETING TO BE HELD TO DISCUSS BRIDGE PROJECTS IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

 

The Missouri Department of Transportation will be hosting a public meeting next month to discuss upcoming bridge projects.

The meeting will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesday, October 13th at the Senath-Hornersville Middle School Library.

Four bridge projects in Dunklin County will be discussed at the meeting.

Three of the bridges are located on Route TT over Sand Slough Ditch, Drainage Ditch No. 8 and Belfontain Ditch. The fourth bridge is located on Route P over Buffalo Ditch.

 

1st ANNUAL WINTER CRAFT FAIR AND BAZAAR TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7TH

 

The Crosspointe Family Church in Campbell will be hosting the 1st Annual Winter Craft Fair and Campbell.

The event will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on Saturday, November 7th and limited booth space is available. Crafters and Vendors are asked to register by October 10th.

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

 

A Poplar Bluff woman was arrested over the weekend on a drug charges.

According to Sgt. Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 19 year old Amanda Baker was arrested Saturday afternoon in Butler County.

Baker is facing charges of possession of marijuana along with misdemeanor warrants out of Wayne County.

 

BENEFIT FOR CHILD SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND

 

A benefit for a child who has been diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma will be held this weekend.

The benefit for Isaac West is scheduled to begin at noon on Sunday, October 4th at the American Legion on PP Highway.

Multiple bands are scheduled to perform at the benefit. The entry fee is $10 which will be donated to the family. For more information, contact Levi Burden at 573-712-4728.

 

5TH ANNUAL FREE TO RUN MARATHON SCHEDULED FOR THIS SATURDAY

 

The 5th Annual “Free to Run” 5K, 10K, and ½ Marathon has been scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd.

Registration for the event will begin at 7 am at Stokelan Drive Christian Church in Malden. The race is set to begin at 8 am. All runners will receive a medal and everyone 12 years old and above is welcome to participate.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Backpacks for Friday program, Women’s ministry, a Malden School Scholarship in memory of Debra Algood, and women in need.

 

SOUTHSIDE ASSEMBLY OF GOD TO HOST CHILDREN’S FALL FESTIVAL

 

The Southside Assembly of God in Poplar Bluff will be hosting a Children’s Fall Festival on October 10th.

The festival will be held from 2 to 4 pm at 404 West Midland Street.

There will be bounce houses, games, cotton candy, popcorn and more. Children are also welcome to wear costumes to the festival.
