POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON AN ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER CHARGE

 

A Poplar Bluff man was taken into custody Saturday evening on an assault on a law enforcement officer charge.

 

According to the Highway Patrol, 28 year old William Orum was arrested on charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and failure to obey a lawful order.

 

The Highway Patrol did not release what Orum did to assault the officer.

 

 

ONE DEAD 11 INJURED IN WEEKEND SHOOTING IN BLYTHEVILLE

 

(AP) - Police in northeastern Arkansas say a woman was killed and 11 people suffered minor injuries in a shooting.

 

Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson tells KWOC News that 19-year-old Adline King was killed around 11 pm Saturday in the shooting at a home on the city's west side.

 

Thompson says four people with gunshot wounds were treated and released at a Memphis hospital, six with unspecified injuries were treated and released at a Blytheville hospital and one was taken to a Jonesboro hospital in stable condition with unspecified injuries.

 

Thompson said the shooting is believed to be the result of a feud involving the dead woman, but he offered few other details about the incident. No one is in custody, and authorities are asking the community to come forward with information.

 

 

MAN ALLEGEDLY SLASHED DURING INCIDENT IN PUXICO

 

A Puxico man was slashed multiple times during an altercation earlier this month.

 

According to authorities, the victim suffered injuries to the arm, back, and shoulder during an alleged incident with 30 year old Joseph Conner, of Puxico on August 1st.

 

Conner was arrested by the Puxico Police Department and is facing felony charges of armed criminal action and 2nd degree assault.

 

Conner’s next court date is scheduled for August 20th.

 

 

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES

 

A Poplar Bluff woman is facing multiple felony charges following her arrest Thursday evening in Butler County.

 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 44 year old Michelle Guzman was arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, 1st degree endangering the welfare of a child, and five counts of possession of a controlled substance – synthetic narcotics.

 

Guzman is also facing other charges including possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

 

 

ABANDONED HOUSE CATCHES FIRE IN BUTLER COUNTY

 

An abandoned house in Butler County caught fire last week.

 

According to authorities, the fire started Thursday night at a house near Fisk along Highway FF.

 

A cause for the fire was not available.

 

 

POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD SPECIAL MEETING TUESDAY

 

The Poplar Bluff City Council will be holding a special meeting Tuesday at the city council chambers.

 

During the meeting, council members will interview applicants to fill a vacancy on the council for the position of Councilman at Large. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.

 

Former Councilman Jack Rushin resigned from the position in July.

 

 

BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE REDUCED THIS WEEK FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS

 

Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Butler County this week for pavement repairs on Route EE.

 

During the repairs, Route EE will be reduced to one lane from Route 142 to the end of state maintenance. Work is scheduled to be performed from 7 am to 5 pm daily through Wednesday.

 

 

ALMOST FOUR MONTH LONG ROAD PROJECT BEGINS TODAY IN WAYNE AND REYNOLDS COUNTY

 

Route 34 in Reynolds and Wayne Counties will be reduced to one lane beginning today so contractor crews can perform dirt work for shoulders. The contractor will be using a pilot car and flaggers during the operation.

 

The work zone is located between County Road 580 in Reynolds County and Route V in Wayne County.

 

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 5 pm daily through December 1st.
