ONE FACING CHARGES FOLLOWING FATAL WRECK

 

A Portageville man is dead following a head on collision Saturday in Pemiscot County.

 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 42 year old Jon Corbett was driving on Route DD when a vehicle driven by 36 year old Catherine Mayes, of Cooter, reportedly crossed the center of the road and hit his vehicle head on.

 

Corbett was pronounced dead at the scene. Mayes and a passenger in Corbett’s vehicle were both injured in the wreck.

 

The Highway Patrol says that Mayes was arrested later on Saturday on charges of involuntary manslaughter, second degree assault, and careless and imprudent driving causing an accident.

 

 

KENNETT POLICE INVESTIGATING ARMED ROBBERY REPORT

 

Kennett Police are investigating a weekend report of an armed robbery.

 

The victim told police he was inside his business on Saturday when an unknown black male assaulted him and took an unknown amount of money from his wallet. The assailant then fled outside the front door.

 

No suspects have been identified in the case.

 

 

WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTED BREAK IN

 

Kennett authorities say a woman is in custody after an alleged attempted break in at an area funeral home.

 

According to the Kennett Police Department, on Sunday police were dispatched to the Bradshaw Funeral Home in regards to an attempted break in.

 

When officers arrived, they took 32 year old Holly Bearden, of Leachville, Arkansas, into custody for first degree burglary.

 

 

WANTED PERSON ARRESTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

 

A wanted man was reportedly found by authorities over the weekend.

 

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, on Friday they were attempting to locate David "Crockett" Ervin, who had several outstanding felony warrants through New Madrid County. Erwin was known to have committed several thefts in New Madrid County.

 

Early Saturday morning, the Marston Police Department received a tip on Ervin's location from a confidential informant.

 

Ervin was found at the residence hiding under a bed and was taken into custody.

 

 

TEENAGER ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO GUN INVESTIGATION

 

A teenager was taken into custody last week in Cape Girardeau in connection to an investigation into a firearm.

 

According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, a subject was found to be attempting to sell a handgun using social media. Authorities determined that the gun was reported stolen in another jurisdiction.

 

Investigators made contact with the suspect, 17 year old Tavious Tipler, of Cape Girardeau, and took him into custody. Tipler was being held on charges of receiving stolen property, resisting a lawful detention, and unlawful use of a weapon.

 

 

WOMAN REPORTEDLY ATTACKED BY MAN WHO OFFERED HER A RIDE

 

A woman was reportedly attacked by a man who had offered her a ride.

 

According to KAIT, the woman was walking in Jonesboro when the man, who she did not know, offered to give her a ride.

 

She accepted, however the woman tried to get out of the car when the man started taking side roads. The man then tried to force her back into the car and grabbed her neck. A nearby resident heard the incident and alerted the police.

 

No arrests have been made in connection to the case.

 

 

TWO POPLAR BLUFF RESIDENTS ARRESTED IN RIPLEY COUNTY FOR POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

 

Two Poplar Bluff residents were arrested in Ripley County on drug related charges.

 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 38 year old Mark Goins and 24 year old Sharla Arnold were arrested within 30 minutes of each other Saturday night.

 

They are each facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, synthetic narcotics; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Goins also had a warrant out of Butler County for distribution of a controlled substance.

 

 

DONIPHAN MAN FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES FOLLOWING ARREST IN RIPLEY COUNTY

 

A Doniphan man is facing multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance, following his arrest Sunday.

 

According to authorities, 22 year old Ocean Johnson was arrested in Ripley County on charges of possession of a controlled substance, hydrocodone; driving while intoxicated; failure to drive on right half of the roadway resulting in an accident; and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

 

 

IOWA WOMAN ARRESTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON DRUG CHARGE

 

Authorities say an Iowa woman was taken into custody Friday in Southeast Missouri on a drug charge.

 

According to the Highway Patrol, 32 year old Dawn Trosclair, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was arrested in New Madrid County shortly before noon on Friday.

 

Trosclair is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine; possession of drug paraphernalia; careless and imprudent driving; and speeding.

 

 

AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING HOUSE FIRE IN CARTER COUNTY

 

Authorities in Carter County are investigating a weekend house fire.

 

The fire occurred at a vacant home near Ellsinore Saturday morning. The home is being considered a total loss.

 

 

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS THIS WEEK ON INTERSTATE 55

 

Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Pemiscot County this week for pavement repairs on Interstate 55.

 

Northbound I-55 will be reduced at mile marker 18.5 during the repairs. Work is scheduled to take place today through February 12th from 7 am to 5 pm daily.

 

 

PEMISCOT COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PIPE REPLACEMENT

 

West Outer Road of I-55 in Pemiscot County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a pipe under the roadway.

 

The work zone is located between Route T and County Road 208.

 

Work will take place today from 7 am to 3:30 pm.
