MAN FACING MURDER CHARGES FOLLOWING PATTERSON SHOOTING
A Patterson man has been charged with first degree murder in connection to a shooting Monday night.
41 year old Carl Streeval reportedly called authorities Monday night and told them he had been shot in the head. Streeval was found dead when authorities arrived.
44 year old Samuel Whitaker is facing charges of first degree murder, first degree burglary and armed criminal action in connection to the shooting.
Wayne County Sheriff Dean Finch told KFVS that authorities believe that an ongoing property dispute was probably the motive.
TWO IN CUSTODY IN CONNECTION TO MORLEY BANK ROBBERY
Two people have been taken into custody in connection to a bank robbery that happened earlier this month.
According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, investigators from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI received information that Alicia Porter, of rural Oran; Roger R. Clayton, of Davenport, Iowa; Joshua L. Thompson, of Sikeston; and Candice L. Wright, of Chicago, Illinois, were involved in the robbery of First Commercial Bank in Morley on October 10th.
Porter and Clayton have been arrested. Porter is facing a charge of first degree robbery, while a warrant has been issued for Clayton for first degree armed robbery. Authorities are still searching for Thompson and Wright and anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact your local law enforcement.
ALMOST $15,000 DISTRIBUTED TO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI LIBRARIES
Almost $15,000 has been distributed among seven libraries in Southeast Missouri.
According to Secretary of State Jason Kander, his office allocates state aid on a per capita basis to local libraries twice per year. The Poplar Bluff Public Library was approved for over $4,000, while the Doniphan – Ripley County Library district received over $3,500.
Statewide over $1.3 million was distributed to libraries.
DRIVER EXAMINATIONS IN CHARLESTON TO MOVE TO NEW LOCATION
Current and prospective drivers who are looking to complete their drivers test in Charleston will need to alter their plans starting next week.
The Charleston driver’s exams will be moved to a new location, beginning on November 6th. Exams will now be administered at the Clara Drinkwater Newman Public Library, located at 105 East Marshall Street in Charleston.
Office hours will be 9 am - 12:30 pm and 1 - 4:30 pm on the first, third, and fifth Wednesdays of each month.
TEAM SPIRIT WORKSHOP TO BE HELD IN FARMINGTON
A Team Spirit youth leadership workshop focusing on the topic of teens and driving has been scheduled for next month in Farmington.
The event will be held on Monday, November 18th at the Farmington Civic Center. This one-day training for students and advisors will feature interactive workshops presented on safety belt use, drinking and driving, and texting while driving, among other topics.

CORPS OF ENGINEERS TO WAIVE DAY USE FEES FOR VETERANS ON VETERANS DAY
With Veterans Day less than two weeks away, The Army Corps of Engineers will be waiving day use fees at over two thousand recreation areas nationwide.
On November 11th, day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families will be waived at many Corps of Engineers operated recreation areas.
The waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps and swimming beaches, but does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities such as group picnic shelters.
PAYMENTS FOR FARMERS IN SELECT PROGRAMS SHOULD BE ARRIVING SOON
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says payments to farmers in the Conservation Security or Conservation Stewardship program should begin arriving in a few days.
The payments from the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service have been delayed because of the recent federal government shutdown, which has since ended.
The payments are part of a financial assistance program for producers who have established conservation programs and are implementing additional conservation activities.
MARIJUANA PROPOSAL REJECTED BY ARKANSAS ATTORNEY GENERAL
Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has again rejected the wording of a proposed ballot measure aimed at legalizing marijuana in the state.
McDaniel on Tuesday cited several problems with the proposed constitutional amendment submitted by retired Army Lt. Col. Marjorie LeClair of Shirley. McDaniel must certify the wording of an amendment before supporters can begin gathering signatures in an effort to qualify for next year's ballot.
The proposal would repeal all laws pertaining to the production, distribution and sale of the cannabis plant and any products derived from the plant. McDaniel has rejected previous versions of the proposed amendment.
Arkansas voters last year narrowly rejected a ballot measure that would have legalized medical marijuana. Supporters are trying to get similar measures back on the ballot next year.
